Women Parliamentarians Group
 

The Women Parliamentarians Group of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) was established during the Ninth Plenary Session of TURKPA held on 18 December 2019 in Baku in order to promote the cooperation among the member parliaments on issues related to equal opportunities for women and men as one of the main priorities of the 2030 Agenda of Sustainable Development.

The agenda of the Group covers the issues on implementation of various initiatives on ensuring active participation of women in political, economic, social and public life, and empowerment of women at all levels of decision-making in the TURKPA member states. The Group aims to encourage participation of women parliamentarians in the work of the Assembly, as well as in the work of international organizations in order to create the solid network of women.

The Group is composed of the Head of the Group assigned by the TURKPA Chairperson-in-Office for the period of his/her Chairmanship and members assigned by the Parties for each meeting on an ad-hoc basis.

The Group adopts its relevant documents at the ordinary meetings held within the framework of TURKPA plenary sessions in the host countries.
