On 16 May 2023, Secretary General and Deputies Secretary General took part in the Special Session of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan dedicated to the 100th anniversary of National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev.

In general, 228 representatives of foreign countries attended the event.

Chairperson of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova opened the Session and shared her thoughts about the great personality and wise leader Heydar Aliyev with the participants of the event.

Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er delivered a speech during the Session. He extended his congratulation on this august occasion and underlined that development of cooperation with the Turkic states occupied a special place in Azerbaijan's foreign policy as one of the important directions of the political course of Heydar Aliyev.

Secretary General mentioned that great leader Heydar Aliyev had exceptional efforts in strengthening of the unity of the Turkic world and in the development of relations between Azerbaijan and the Turkic states.

Heads and members of parliaments of Turkic and other states, representatives of international organizations addressed the event.
