TURKPA attended 29th OSCE PA Annual Session
On 2-6 July 2022, Deputy Secretary General Fuad Alakbarov attended the 29th Annual Session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly hosted by the UK Parliament in Birmingham. The meeting brought together 250 parliamentarians from the members of the OSCE PA. Assembly Session included three Plenary Sessions, meetings of Standing, General and Ad-hoc Committees, Reports by Special representatives and meetings of Bureau, as well as numerous bilateral meetings and side events.
The Session was opened by the speeches of OSCE leaders and host officials. Margareta Cederfelt, OSCE PA President, John Whittingdale, Head of the UK delegation to the OSCE PA, Lord Tariq Ahmad of Wimbledon, Minister of State for South and Central Asia, North Africa, UN, the Commonwealth and the OSCE, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons offered welcoming remarks.
TURKPA also participated in the two side events under the themes “7th Meeting of the Silk Road Group” and “Creating a New Kazakhstan in a changing world and modern challenges” organized by the delegations of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan to the OSCE PA, respectively.
Following intense debates, the Assembly adopted the Birmingham Declaration.
TURKPA regularly participates in the events of the OSCE PA as a guest.
