Workshop on Fighting the Pandemic in TURKPA Member States was held in Ankara
On 11 May 2022, Workshop on Fighting the Pandemic in TURKPA Member States was organized by TURKPA in Ankara with the support of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (GNAT). The main goal of the workshop held in the framework of the TURKPA Commission on Environment, Natural Resources and Health Protection, was to focus on the impact and consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and measures especially taken in the field of health sector in member states.
The workshop gathered parliamentarians and experts from the member countries, Uzbekistan as well as representatives of relevant agencies of Türkiye.
The workshop consisted of two sessions moderated by Mr. Ahliman Amiraslanov, Chairman of the Commission, Chairman of the Health Committee of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Mr. Recep Şeker, Deputy Chairman of the Commission, member of the GNAT, respectively. The opening ceremony was addressed by the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Commission, TURKPA Secretary General Mr. Mehmet Süreyya Er, members of the Commission – Mr. Yeldos Abakanov, Member of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Balbak Tulobaev, Member of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as Mr. Odiljon Iminov, Chairman of the Committee on Science, Education and Health of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
In the course of the workshop, experts from the member countries and representatives of the relevant agencies of Turkey made presentations and gave information on current situation, legislation and institutional framework in the member countries, as well as conducted discussions on the matter.
As a practical part of the program, participants visited Ankara City Hospital.
