TURKPA delegation attended Extraordinary Meeting of TURKSOY Permanent Council

TURKPA delegation led by Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er took part in the Extraordinary Meeting of the Permanent Council of the Ministers of Culture of TURKSOY hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye on 30-31 March 2022 in Bursa, which was declared as Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2022.

The TURKSOY events in Bursa started on March 30, 2022 with the welcoming of the heads of the guest delegations by Mr. Yakup Canbolat, the Governor of Bursa. The event continued with a visit to Osman Gazi and Orhan Gazi tombs, a viewing of the Great Guard Ritual, the opening ceremony of the Coordination Center of the Bursa - 2022 Cultural Capital of the Turkic World, photo exhibition dedicated to the Cultural Capitals of the Turkic World and other cultural activities. Mr. Alinur Aktaş, Mayor of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, hosted the guest delegations at the historic City Hall.

Mr. Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye, chaired a meeting of Bursa - Cultural Capital of the Turkic World. The opening ceremony of Bursa - 2022 Cultural Capital of the Turkic World was accompanied with the lighting a Nowruz fire. Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Culture of the member countries, representatives of international organizations and national academic circles attended the event.

On 31 March 2022, heads of delegations made speeches at the Extraordinary Meeting of the TURKSOY Permanent Council. The Permanent Council took a number of crucial decisions. Mr. Sultanbai Raev was elected as the new TURKSOY Secretary General. Azerbaijani city of Shusha was elected as the 2023 Cultural Capital of the Turkic World.

On the sidelines of the two-day event, Secretary General held meetings with the heads of delegations from Turkic States. The parties exchanged views on the prospects of inter-parliamentary cooperation in the Turkic World and other issues of common interest.
