TURKPA Mission met with officials in Tashkent
TURKPA International Observation Mission has arrived in Tashkent to conduct a short-term monitoring of the presidential election to be held on 24October 2021. The Mission led by Mr. Recep Şeker, member of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (GNAT),Vice-Chairof the TURKPA Commission on Environment, Natural Resources and Health Protection, is comprised of members of parliaments – Mr. Aghalar Valiyev (Azerbaijan), Mrs. Jamilya Nurmanbetova (Kazakhstan), Mr. Anvar Artykov, Mr. Mukhtarbek Ainakulov (Kyrgyzstan), Mr. Şenel Yediyıldız, Mr. Ömer Fethi Gürer, Mr. Yüksel Özkan and Mr. Yaşar Karadağ (Turkey), as well as diplomatic staff of the TURKPA Secretariat.
On 22 October, members of the Mission met with Mr. Zainiddin Nizamkhodzhayev, Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr. Sodik Safoyev, First Deputy Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Mrs. Dilorom Faiziyeva, Head of the Committee on International Affairs and Interparliamentary Relations.
During these meetings, Head of Mission Mr. Şeker briefed on the observation program of the Mission. He expressed gratitude for the conditions provided for international observers and his confidence that the elections would be held in fair, free and transparent manner in favor of Uzbekistan.
Interlocutors of the Mission emphasized the significance of the participation of TURKPA observers in the monitoring process of the presidential electionin terms of providing transparent and democratic elections. Chairman of the CEC informed the Missionas regards measures taken on preparation for the election, including logistical and technical aspects and answered the questions of the observers.
Within its observation program, TURKPA observers will hold meetings with representatives of the political parties. The Mission will visit polling stations to monitor voting process on the election day and hold a press conference on the outcomes of its observation on the following day.
