Secretary General Altynbek Mamaiusupov took part at the Fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament held on 6-8 September 2021, in Vienna. The conference was co-organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Parliament of Austria, in cooperation with the United Nations.
The two-day conference was held under the theme “Parliamentary leadership for more effective multilateralism that delivers peace and sustainable development for the people and planet”. The event brought together Speakers of Parliament from various regions of the world, including the heads of TURKPA member parliaments, as well as representatives of international organizations.
The participants exchanged views on international parliamentary cooperation on global issues such as fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, post-pandemic expectations and recovery, countering misinformation, urgent measures related to the climate change, youth participation in politics and gender equality.
On the sidelines of the conference, Secretary General had meetings with members of parliamentary delegations and other dignitaries to discuss the issues of mutual interest.
The conference was concluded with adoption of the High-level Declaration.
