Secretary General addressed parliamentary conference dedicated to the Day of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan
On 26 November 2020, Secretary General Altynbek Mamaiusupov delivered a speech during the international parliamentary conference dedicated to the Day of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan held in online format. The conference titled “The Role of Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev in the Establishment and Development of Parliamentarism in Kazakhstan” was attended by the heads and members of the parliament of Turkey, Uzbekistan, Russia, Italy, Chezh Republic, Vietnam and European Parliament.
Chairman of the Mazhilis of Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Nurlan Nigmatulin made an opening speech. Mr. Nigmatulin underlined the crucial role of Elbasy at all stages of independence of Kazakhstan. He noted that the First President of Kazakhstan laid the foundation for the Kazakh model of parliamentarism and in this context, stressed the significance of his reforms that have always been an impetus for its evolution.
Emphasizing the vital role of Nursultan Nazarbayev in the establishment and strengthening of statehood, as well as country’s economic development, the participants noted his immense contribution to the development of parliamentarism and parliamentary culture.
In his speech, Secretary General Altynbek Mamaiusupov stressed the efforts of Elbasy in the development of institutional cooperation among Turkic-speaking countries and the initiative of establishment of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking Countries that was put forward by Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev in 2006 and followed by an agreement signed by the heads of parliaments of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic and Turkey in Istanbul in 2008. In this context, Mr. Mamaiusupov underlined the vision of Elbasy as an author of idea to establish a parliamentary assembly in order to form common legal space that will contribute to enhance the efficiency of integration processes among Turkic-speaking countries. He also informed the participants on the work of the Assembly in the recent years and activities carried out amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
