Meeting of Council of Assembly took place in Baku
The Ninth Meeting of the Council of Assembly took place on 18 December 2019 in Baku and hosted by Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Mr. Ogtay Asadov, Chairman of Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Nurlan Nigmatulin, Chairman of Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Dastanbek Dzhumabekov, Chairman of Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr. Mustafa Şentop, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, as well as Mr. Altynbek Mamaiusupov, TURKPA Secretary General, attended the meeting.
Following an opening speech by Mr. Mustafa Şentop, Council countinued its work with the handover ceremony of TURKPA Chairmanship from the Grand National Assembly of Turkey to Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Mr. Ogtay Asadov, new TURKPA Chairman-in-Office expressed gratitude to his Turkish counterpart for commendable work during the TURKPA Chairmanship of Turkey that made a considerable contribution to cooperation among Turkic-speaking countries.
Council adopted the Activity Plan for 2020. The meeting was remarkable with a decision of granting observer status to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) in TURKPA.
