Secretary General Altynbek Mamaiusupov took part in the 37th meeting of TURKSOY Permanent Council and closing ceremony of "Osh - Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2019" held on 29-30 November 2019 in Osh, Kyrgyzstan.
The meeting that was held with participation of the Ministers of Culture and deputy ministers from the member states brought together representatives of international organisations, academic communities, as well as guests from various regions of the Turkic world.
The opening ceremony was followed by discussion of the agenda items. The event was remarkable with a number of significant decisions taken by the Permanent Council and ended with signing of the final declaration. Khiva (Uzbekistan) was named as 2020 cultural capital of the Turkic world. 2020 was proclaimed as the year of the prominent Kazakh poet and thinker Abai Kunanbaev in honour of his 175th anniversary.
On the same day, an official closing ceremony of "Osh - Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2019" also took place.
