TURKPA delegation took part in IPU Forum of Women Parliamentarians
On 13 October 2019, TURKPA delegation led by Mrs. Ainura Askarova, member of Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament) of the Kyrgyz Republic, took part in the Forum of Women Parliamentarians held in the framework of the 141st IPU Assembly in Belgrade, Serbia.
In her speech during the forum, Mrs. Askarova noted the necessity of coordinated action by the world community to achieve gender equality and stressed the importance of activities carried out by TURKPA in this direction.
The participants discussed the draft resolution “Achieving Universal Health Coverage by 2030: The role of parliaments in ensuring the right to health” that is on the Agenda of the 141st Assembly from a gender perspective and the role of parliaments in legislating for gender equality and lifting legal barriers to the enjoyment of human rights by all women and girls.
On the sidelines of the event, Mrs. Askarova had meetings with Mrs. Gordana Čomić, President of the Forum and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and members of parliamentary delegations.
TURKPA delegation also attended the Inaugural Ceremony of the 141st IPU Assembly that took place in the presence of H.E. Mr. Aleksandar Vučić, President of the Republic of Serbia.
