Secretary General met with Head of Senate of Kazakh Parliament
On 19 April 2019, Secretary General Mr. Altynbek Mamaiusupov met with Ms. Dariga Nazarbayeva, newly elected Chairperson of Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the sidelines of the 49th Plenary Session of CIS Interparliamentary Assembly in St. Petersburg.
Mr. Mamaiusupov congratulated Ms. Dariga Nazarbayeva on her election as the Chairperson of Senate and briefly informed her on current and future activities of the organization. Informing on the work being carried out in the framework of the TURKPA Commissions, Secretary General stressed the active participation of Kazakh parliamentarians in the work of the Assembly.
Emphasizing the importance of parliamentary cooperation, Ms. Dariga Nazarbayeva mentioned the significant role of TURKPA in enhancing relationships between the four member countries. The Chairperson noted the positive dynamics of relations between Turkic-speaking countries and expressed her readiness to comprehensively support TURKPA's activities.
The parties also conversed about the preparations of the forthcoming Ninth Plenary Session of TURKPA and exchanged views on further development of cooperation between the parliaments of the member countries.
