Milli Majlis hosted solemn meeting marking centennial of Azerbaijani Parliament
On 21 September 2018, a solemn ceremony dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijani Parliament was held at Milli Majlis (Parliament) of the Republic of Azerbaijan and gathered representatives and heads of national parliaments from various countries, international organizations and diplomatic corps accredited in Baku.
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan H.E. Ilham Aliyev attended an event and made a speech.
Thanking the participants for attending the solemn meeting, Chairman of Milli Majlis Mr. Ogtai Asadov noted that establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and its parliament in 1918 was a manifestation of the statehood potential of the Azerbaijani people in new historical conditions and realization of the dream of independence. Mr. Asadov emphasized that confident steps on the path to democratic and secular statehood opened a new page in the political life of not only Azerbaijan but the entire Muslim East.
The event continued with the screening of a documentary on the centennial of the Azerbaijani parliament and congratulatory speeches by the participants.
TURKPA Secretary General Mr. Altynbek Mamaisupov also attended the solemn meeting.
