Speaker Dzhumabekov meets with Chairman of Kazakh Majlis Nigmatulin
Bishkek, Oct. 9, 2018. /Kabar/. Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) Dastanbek Dzhumabekov met with Chairman of the Majlis of Kazakhstan Nurlan Nigmatulin in Turkey, in the framework of the third meeting of Speakers of Eurasian Countries' Parliaments.
At the meeting, Dzhumabekov noted with deep appreciation that the historically established friendly relations between the two fraternal peoples are finding a worthy continuation today.
“I consider it extremely important and timely to develop and strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan for the benefit of our peoples. I am confident that we will be able to make a huge contribution to the strengthening and expansion of Kyrgyz-Kazakh relations based on centuries-old ties of friendship and fraternity. Our parliaments support close cooperation within the framework of the parliamentary assemblies of the CIS, CSTO, as well as TurkPA and other inter-parliamentary organizations,” Dzhumabekov said.
In turn, Chairman of the Parliament Nurlan Nigmatulin told that he was glad to meet and have the opportunity to personally discuss a number of topical issues.
“President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev pays special attention to relations with Kyrgyzstan. We remain committed to expanding our cooperation in all aspects. On the territory of the CIS, we are the closest countries, the trade and economic turnover between our countries, reaching up to half a billion dollars, of course, needs to be increased to one billion dollars by 2020,” Nigmatulin said.
At the meeting, the sides also discussed the issue of holding a second meeting of the inter-parliamentary council between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan in the first half of 2019 in the city of Bishkek. The parties made a call for active cooperation between relevant committees of parliaments and deputy groups of friendship.
At the end of the meeting, Chairman of the Majlis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Nigmatulin invited Dzhumabekov to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan "to exchange experience in the field of parliamentarism and to strengthen inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries".
