TURKPA Chairman-in-Office attended festive events dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality
While speaking at the international conference titled “The Policy of Neutrality: Peace, Security and International Cooperation for Development” the Majilis Speaker read out the message of Mr. Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan on the occasion of the said anniversary.
During the course of the visit Mr. K.Jakupov held talks with Chairperson of Turkmenistan’s Mejlis Mrs. Akja Nurberdieva. The parties discussed the main issues of bilateral cooperation and noted that implementation of mutual agreements will lift Kazakh-Turkmen bilateral interaction to a new qualitative level.
Mrs.Nurberdieva talked about Turkmen model of neutrality that does not interfere in other countries’ internal affairs and based on the pursuit to peace. K.Jakupov, while noting strict adherence of Turkmenistan to global nuclear non-proliferation, extended congratulations in connection with accession of Turkmenistan to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in September of the current year.
The parties drew attention to the transport and transit potential of the two countries and exchanged views on the issues of bilateral trade and economic relations. The parliamentarians are of the view that the railway line Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran has a special role in the consistent development of economic ties. Apart from that, megaprojects such as the international highway the Western China – Western Europe and Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India have significant importance.
K.Jakupov and A.Nurberdieva, while touching upon the law drafting experiences of their parliaments in law issues, made emphasis on the need to further develop inter-parliamentary relations. In this connection the Chairman of the Kazakh Majilis extended invitation to his Turkmen counterpart to come to Kazakhstan with an official visit.
