Kazakh Senate Speaker expresses gratitude to TURKPA delegation


The Kazakh Senate Speaker Kairat Mami has met with a delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking States, which has arrived in Astana for a meeting of the Commission on Social, Cultural and Humanitarian Issues. The Senate Speaker thanked the delegates for their strengthening of ties between the peoples of the Turkic world. The Kazakh side tabled a draft of the Bilge-Korkyt programme named in honour of the Turkic philosopher. The programme is aimed at deepening Turkic integration. It also provides for training postgraduate students in the field of Turkic Studies. The parliamentarians also spoke about the need for further studies of cultural and spiritual values of the Turkic civilization. So far, TURKPA is made up of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
